WRRP Grant Update

Lac Ste. Anne County Alternative Land Use Services (ALUS) is excited to announce that additional funding has been acquired to expand the program county-wide and for an additional four years. The ALUS program began in 2015 as a pilot project in the Lake Isle watershed in partnership with Parkland County. After successfully implementing several projects in this watershed, and gaining landowner interest across the county, we sought out to secure funding to expand the geographic scope of the program to engage with more farmers with our county.

The Watershed Resiliency and Restoration Program (WRRP) aims to improve natural watershed function by increasing conservation, education, stewardship, restoration and enhancement initiatives on private land. The ALUS program complements these goals by working with farmers’ to increase the adoption of beneficial management practices within the farmer’s current production strategies. ALUS is looking to take marginal land out of agricultural production and into the production of ecosystem goods and services. We appreciate that this can come at a cost to farmers so the ALUS program can provide technical and financial support to facilitate this process.

If you are an active farmer within Lac Ste. Anne County and are excited about the potential for stewardship projects on your land, please reach out to your ALUS Coordinator, Megan Casey, at the County office. 1-866- 5722 ext. 3688 or For additional information on the ALUS program, you can visit, and for information on the WRRP visit
