Intermunicipal Collaboration Framework

Leveraging the Collective Potential of the Region

An Intermunicipal Collaboration Framework (ICF) highlights and formalizes existing collaborative work between adjacent municipalities and provides a forum to work together. The primary goal of ICFs is ensuring neighbouring municipalities work together regarding service delivery and cost-sharing.

Lac Ste. Anne County is committed to developing ICFs with the Counties of Onoway, Mayerthorpe and Parkland; and with the Summer Villages of Alberta Beach, Sunset Point and Val Quantin. Further information related to these IDPs will be included in this section of the County Website as it becomes available.

Intermunicipal Development Plan

A Guiding Document for Growth

An Intermunicipal Development Plan (IDP) is a high-level policy plan created by neighbouring municipalities. An IDP is designed to foster cooperation and integrated development near the municipal boundaries so that unnecessary costs and negative impacts for the municipalities are avoided. The principles and objectives established in the IDP guide the growth of future development by identifying general locations for major land uses and servicing. In addition to guiding future growth, if there is a disagreement between municipalities on development, IDPs provide a framework for dispute resolution.

Lac Ste. Anne County is voluntarily adopting joint plans called Inter-Municipal Development Plans (IDPs) with the Village of Alberta Beach and the Summer Villages of Val Quentin and Sunset Point. These plans address a range of issues and common interests between the municipalities. The IDP will serve as an important decision making tool for the Reeve & Council, administration, and stakeholders.
