Snowplow Flag Program Underway

The County’s Public Works department helps property owners clear snow from their private driveways through its annual Snowplow Flag Program.

To participate in the snowplowing program, snowplow flags must be purchased in advance. The cost of $25 per flag/per clearing covers plowing from the road to the residence only. One flag will be used each time snow removal is requested.

Snowplow flags can be purchased at locations listed below. Please note that flags will NOT be sold at Rich Valley School this season due to public health precautions related to COVID-19.

  • Gunn General Store
  • Darwell Trading Post
  • Onoway Bigway Foods

Snowplow Program Details

One flag will be used each time you request snow removal. Pre-payment is required for this service.

PLEASE NOTE: Your approach and driveway must be a minimum of 22 feet wide with no obstacles, and have a clearance of 18 feet high with no overhanging trees or wires. Otherwise, the County grader(s) will NOT clear your driveway.

After a major snowstorm, opening of roads takes approximately three days, so driveway plowing will not normally occur until the fourth day or later. Other arrangements should be made if you require your driveway plowed sooner than that.
