An emergency plan includes:
- Deciding who your out of town contact will be. If your family has been separated during an emergency, an out of town contact can serve as a central checkpoint.
- Creating an emergency preparedness kit including rations, a flashlight, medical supplies and a windup radio.

- Teaching children basic safety instructions and familiarizing them with the emergency plan.
