The County’s road maintenance program includes snow and ice control to ensure the safety of the traveling public.

Snow removal in the County is a collaborative effort between the municipal and provincial levels of government. On local roads, County crews tackle these duties. On provincial highways, Alberta Transportation contractors are responsible for snow removal.

Don't Push Your Snow Onto County Roadways

It may seem harmless enough — but when you push snow across a road surface into the opposite ditch or directly onto roads, you put motorists at great risk. Vehicles that encounter ridges or piles of snow on the road can easily lose control.

Not All Roads in the County Are Ours

When the snow flies, the phone lines light up at County reception without fail. It pays to keep in mind that many roads in the County are the domain of the Province.

The County maintains range roadstownship roads and subdivision roads. After a snowfall event, our Public Works crews begin to clear these corridors quickly, safely, and in accordance with standard County procedures.

While our crews are busy maintaining County-managed roadways, we trust that Alberta Transportation crews are also working to clear the provincial highways under their responsibility.
