2023 Livestock Drought Recovery Support Expanded to include Lac Ste. Anne County

The 2023 Canada-Alberta Drought Livestock Assistance initiative announced expanded eligibility to 23 new regions and has extended the application deadline. Helping Lac Ste. Anne County producers maintain their breeding herds.

The program compensates Alberta's livestock producers for the extraordinary costs incurred due to changing management practices from drought and extreme high temperatures in 2023. Agriculture Financial Services Corporation (AFSC) administers the initiative. For more information, eligibility requirements and to apply, please visit AFSC.ca or call your local branch. 

Eligible producers who altered their grazing practises for more than 21 days can receive up to $150 per head for losses incurred to manage and maintain female breeding animals. Application deadline is February 22, 2024.
