Snowplow Flag Program

Options for Private Property Owners

The Snowplow Flag Program allows any property owners or occupants within County boundaries to request private driveway clearing from Public Works following a snowfall.

County-issued snowplow flags can be purchased at participating locations. A signed application must be submitted at the point of purchase.

Snowplow Flag Program

Snow Removal Options for Private Property Owners

How the Program Works

To participate in the program, you must purchase a snowplow flag in advance from one of the locations below. You must submit your Snowplow Flag Application at the point of purchase. The charge is $25.00 per flag per clearing. This means one flag will be used each time you request snow removal. The grader operator will collect your flag prior to the commencement of snow removal.

The flag signifying a request for service must be placed on the RIGHT hand side approach shoulder near the property line (RIGHT hand side of approach - when facing the driveway from the road). Flags must be attached or pinned to a stake in a manner to facilitate retrieval by the motor grader operator. Flags placed in other locations will not be acknowledged.

After a major snowstorm, opening of roads will take approximately 3 days, therefore plowing of driveways would not normally occur until the fourth day or later. Other arrangements should be made if you require your driveway plowed sooner than that.

Snowplowing of any driveway will not occur without the proper flag. The $25.00 fee provides snowplowing from the road to the residence only. Please do not approach the operator, as this would pose a safety concern.

CLEAR YOUR APPROACH
Your approach and driveway must be a minimum of 22 feet wide with no obstacles, and must have a clearance of at least 18 feet high with no overhanging trees or wires. Otherwise the County grader(s) will NOT clear your driveway.

One Flag = One Clearing

The County charges $25.00 per flag, per clearing. This means one of your flags will be used each time you request snow removal. The grader operator will collect your flag prior to the commencement of snow removal.
